The short version: Some links on StayWellAware are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission from the seller. You don’t pay more because of it. It never decides what we recommend, what we criticize, or what we leave out.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is a special tracking link to a company’s website. If you buy through it, the company (or the affiliate network that runs its program) pays us a small share of the sale. The company tracks this with a code in the link and, usually, a cookie set on its own site.
We participate, or plan to participate, in affiliate programs run directly by brands and through affiliate networks such as CJ (Commission Junction) and Impact. Brands we may link to include, among others, Medical Guardian, Bay Alarm Medical, Vive Health, Life Extension, Thorne, Hatch, Saatva, LetsGetChecked, Everlywell, Ritual, Therabody, Withings, and Omron. This list will change over time.
Why we tell you
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission requires websites to clearly disclose any “material connection” with a company they write about, such as being paid when you buy. We’d tell you anyway. You deserve to know who might profit from a recommendation so you can weigh it for yourself.
You can read the FTC’s own guidance here: FTC’s Endorsement Guides: What People Are Asking.
Where you’ll see disclosures
- At the top of every article that contains affiliate links, before the first link.
- On this page, which is linked in the footer of every page.
- Next to product buttons, which are labeled clearly (for example, “Check current price at [brand]”).
Our promises
- Commissions don’t buy opinions. We don’t accept payment for positive coverage, and brands don’t review or approve our articles before publication.
- We cover products that don’t pay us. If the best option for you has no affiliate program, or the honest answer is “you probably don’t need to buy anything,” we’ll say so.
- We don’t fake testing. If we haven’t used a product ourselves, we won’t write as if we have. Our reviews are mainly based on published research, official guidance, manufacturer documentation, and independent validation listings. If we ever use a product hands-on, the article will say so and describe how.
- Free products get disclosed. If a company ever sends us a product for free, we’ll say so in the article.
- No made-up prices. Prices change constantly, so we send you to the seller to check the current price.
